Dinners

Cypriot dinners are full of meat. People here eat beef, lamb, mutton, and even chevon (goat meat). It is usually grilled and served as kebab with or without vegetables. Cypriot people eat also offal, pigeons widely propagated by the Venetians, or mince served on the grilled aubergines. Generally Cypriot food is characterised by a large amount of meat, sauces and grilled vegetables. Everything is well spiced and served in large portions. Almost every restaurant in Cyprus serve seafood, however most of the dishes are probably not made of ingredients delivered in the refrigerated lorries or kept frozen. Fresh seafood may be found only in the north of the country. Those who like squid or octopuses may be sure that their food will always be fresh. If you want to eat fresh fish, it is better to choose the local species such as: marídhes, granik, lágos/lahoz, barakuda, sokan, karagöz i barbun.
