The Pafos Gate

When you come to Nicosia from the direction of Trodos you come through the Pafos Gate which for many years was closed for the motor traffic. The Pafos Gate is also the picture of the quarrelled nations – next to the gate there are Greek and Turkish flags, as well as those which belong to the allies from the continent, flapping in the wind. In the times of Lusignans, the gate was named after the destroyed monastery during the construction of the fortification - Porta San Domenico.
