The Famagusta Gate
The Famagusta Gate is probably the most majestic of all the gates – this construction, created by Giulio Savorgnano, has also certain cultural function. Long passage contains many rooms used for organising exhibitions and concerts. There is a concert room with great acoustics and the exhibition annex located in the old arsenal. The gate is similar to the Cretan building located in Iráklion. Next to the gate there is an amphitheatre which is a place of many festivals and celebrations, also the Festival of Nicosia in September.
